Purple Pumps

On October 15th, we will be partnering with Caring Hearts Helping Hands and Prince J's Amusement Land Foundation to host our 6th annual Purple Pumps Event which raises awareness on domestic violence and how it affects our community. This year's theme is 'unsilenced', supporting & honoring survivors & victims, while encouraging others to speak up. The event will feature guest speakers and survivors that will educate attendees on topics such as the types of domestic abuse, prevention, different ways to seek help, the dangers of remaining silent and much more. This event is a free community with interacting dialogues, empowering activities and much more. In addition to raising awareness, we give back to programs whose mission is to protect victims of domestic violence. This year we will be collecting sanitary items during the event. We hope you are able to take part in this empowering event and experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting this cause.

Data have shown that one in four women and one in seven men in America will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. The devastating consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime. In fact, according to data one in 15 children are exposed to domestic violence each year, and 90 percent of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.

Often times, domestic violence is not talked about or is kept behind closed doors, we are determined to shine a light on this issue and strengthen our community’s awareness of available resources.
